A new VHF with remote monitoring app from Vesper lets you explore ashore in confidence knowing you’ll be immediately alerted if your boat should move.
Cortex is the world’s most-advanced VHF, with built-in smartAIS SOTDMA transponder and remote monitoring, giving skippers peace of mind when away from their vessels. The anchor watch feature will alert the user if the vessel moves – whether they’re asleep or ashore – and the skipper can also opt to receive alerts should there be a change in water depth, wind direction or speed while at anchor.
Its Geofence feature guards against theft by detecting whether a trailer boat is moved, or if a boat has broken free of its mooring, sending notifications directly to the user’s mobile. Adding an extra layer of security, Cortex uses pressure sensors under the deck, doors and hatches to sense unwanted guests onboard and send the user a notification.
Cortex monitors and reports on a variety of onboard systems, including bilge pump activation and frequency, battery charging and shore power connections, sending alerts if problems are identified. The product also checks that fridges and freezers are connected and monitors fuel and water tank levels.
Sensors allow Cortex to monitor barometric pressure, wind indicators and temperature and humidity sensors to report on the current weather situation at the vessel. Connected to gas and temperature sensors, you can control and remotely turn on ventilation if required.
